| Cabernet Sauvignon's richness is hidden in the Napa Valley, though, much like Bordeaux, there are distinguishing factors which set every appellation apart. In the north, Calistoga gives wines of profound intensity and muscle, while St. Helena offers wines with polished fruit and gravity. Rutherford stretches across the Napa Valley floor and offerswines that have a dusty, dark black fruit note. Equally gifted are the wines from above the valley floor. The Mount Veeder and Howell Mountains wines add great structure to the equation. Nevertheless, it is Oakville that excels with hints of violets, transcended by black currants, and beautifullyripe tannins. The fantastic producers listed below have great holdings in the various AVA's or are dictated by their address. |
