| Burgundy is perhaps the world's best representative of the great Pinot Noirgrape. It is here in France's "Golden Slope" that the idea of the single vineyard reigns supreme. The soils ranging from marlstone to deep brown limestone, offer dramatically different nuances from vineyard to vineyard. There are several villages which encapsulate Burgundy, from the masculine Gevery-Chambertin in the north to the soft, feminine Volnay in the south. The wines of Burgundy range in aromas from richjammy fruits to cardamom and licorice, displaying textures thathave amazing depth and refinement. It has been said that the "Holy Grail" lies somewhere hidden in the limestone rich vineyardsof the village of Vosne-Romanée. |
